Wings restaurant plans to open second location

SPRINGFIELD — By the time football season is under way, fans will have a new, yet seemingly familiar place to grab some wings and watch the game.

Buffalo Wild Wings, at 42 N. Limestone St. for almost a decade, has broken ground for a second location on North Bechtle Avenue between Walmart and Home Depot.

The new store, which will be located in a shopping plaza, is expected to open in late September or early October, said owner Kent Schilling.

It will take about 60 employees to open the Bechtle Avenue location, which will be built using the current BW3 footprint.

"The new location will be entirely different with new colors and furniture, but it will still be a clean, family-friendly store with patio dining," Schilling said.

"Our customers will find the same things they have come to know and love about Buffalo Wild Wings," Schilling said.

The traffic on Bechtle Avenue will provide a larger and more viable customer base, but Schilling and his wife (and co-owner) Shelley have every intention of remaining a viable downtown business.

"We originally felt we should move away from downtown, but decided to try and keep both location open with the new hospitals," he said. "We want people to know about our new store, but we don't want them to forget about our downtown location."

Good idea, "concerned citizen". Love BW3--but hate parking downtown. Not likely to go to the Bechtle location--that area by Wal-Mart is HORRIBLE for traffic. There should be another light at Aldi's or a traffic light placed at Home Depot's entrance from Bechtle or Speedway should open up another enter/exit option directly onto Bechtle.

When you turn right at the Speedway, you're usually stopped by someone ahead of you turning left to get gas. Let's develop the East and South ends!

East Main Street across from the theater would be a much better location.
