A lockout at International Fiber Corporation continued after employees at the company voted Thursday evening to reject a proposed contract offer.
Andy Draper, a blender operator who has worked at the company for nine years, said employees rejected an offer by a vote of 72 to 11. Employees are being represented by the Teamsters Local 957 based in Dayton.
Officials from International Fiber Corporation could not be reached for comment Friday morning.
In the meantime, employees are hoping to return to the negotiating table, Draper said.
“The ball’s in their court,” he said. “We’re waiting on them.”
Employees were initially placed on paid furlough on Saturday, April 30. But a lockout was imposed Tuesday when no agreement was reached. Negotiations over the contract began in December, and the company’s most recent collective bargaining agreement expired on Feb. 12.
