SPRINGFIELD — A routine testing of tornado sirens was scheduled across the area in conjunction with an earlier plan by the National Weather Service, said Lisa D’Allessandris, director, Clark County Emergency Management Agency.

Sirens were set for testing at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, however, the NWS cancelled its plans for this morning. Some local agencies might have moved forward with their testing, said D’Allessandris.

Tornado sirens are in place in New Carlisle and German Twp., but not in the city of Springfield.

If any systems were sounded, it would only have been an exercise, officials said.

The NWS has issued no watches or warnings of severe weather for the area this morning, however, some showers and thunderstorms are likely to move through this afternoon.
