SPRINGFIELD - Springfield board members approved the hiring of four new principals Thursday, June 11.
This makes five building administrators hired for the 2009-10 school year in recent weeks.
Luke Everhart, interim principal at Lagonda Elementary, has been tapped as a principal. Everhart has five years administrative experience with Greenon Local Schools, according to his resume. The board also approved a one-year contract for Michael Wilson, assistant principal at Roosevelt Elementary last school year. Wilson, who has 30 years experience, will become a principal. One-year contracts for principal positions also were approved for Springfield-newcomers Cynthia Dillard and Roy Swanson. Dillard comes to the district from the Hamilton County Educational Services Center and taught at Cincinnati Public Schools. Swanson, a former Dayton Public Schools teacher, is a principal at Imagine charter schools in Dayton.
The board also approved appointing Jeff Thompson as secondary education director of academic and student services.
In his new position, Thompson would handle curriculum and instruction and student services for the middle and high schools. Dona Starett will handle the same duties for the lower grades.
Board member Don Reed cast the lone dissenting vote for the recommendations, which included Jeff Thomspson’s appointment and the four new principals.

I'm assuming this is the fault of editors who do not value education and decide the readers won't care about the details. We do!
Please start including the relevant information in the education articles! This is crazy.
