SPRINGFIELD - A sobriety checkpoint scheduled for today has been cancelled due to weather.

The checkpoint was to take place in Clark County Friday, the time and date of which would have been announced this afternoon.

A new date for the checkpoint hasn’t been announced.

The effort is part of a monthly campaign by the Clark County OVI Task Force to crack down on impaired drivers and enforce traffic laws. The OVI coalition was formed after the area received a $136,000 grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office last year.

The task force is made up of the Health District, Springfield Police Division, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation, Clark County EMA, Springfield Fire and Rescue Box 27, Ohio Investigative Unit and police departments in North Hampton, Enon, South Charleston, Tremont City and German Twp.
