Snow came early and steady this morning, Tuesday, Feb. 9, putting down a layer of snow on most roads before plows and salt crews got out, and causing most area schools to close.

Light powdery snow reached the area just after midnight, according to Myron Padgett, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The Winter Storm Warning has been extended through Thursday until 6 p.m., he said. Padgett said he expects 2 to 4 inches during the day for the whole area today, with totals of 4 to 8 inches for the total snowfall through tomorrow.

Highs today are expected to be in the lower 30s, Padgett said, with lows 15 to 20 degrees. A low pressure system is moving through the area from the Mississippi Valley, he said.

Wednesday’s high should be in the upper 20s, with lows at night from 15 to 20 degrees, he said. There’s a chance of snow Wednesday night and a slight chance of snow Thursday, Padgett said. Thursday’s high should be in the mid 20s with a low at night of 10 degrees.

Friday should be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 20s and a low around 10 degrees at night. No snow is expected Friday, Saturday or Sunday, Padgett said. The weekend should have high temperatures in the upper 20s.

I agree with ODOT wife. People, it is O-H-I-O and it is WINTER! IF you cannot drive in it (as many here cannot seem to...) then move or just stay home!
