Antioch College’s rebirth would be a rare event in the history of higher education.

“There have been a number of colleges that have been on the brink of closure and have come back fairly strong,” said Jeffrey Selingo, editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

After 2 full years of struggle to save the college, it is interesting to see that people still want us to fail. That these people are misinformed about the reasons for Antioch's destruction is all the more telling. There was no failure of marketing. The economic reality is that Antioch College was systematically de-capitalized by Antioch University. For more information go to theantiochpapers.org for over 5000 pages of documents related to the closure.

Thank you for your kind attention.

It was sad to see the old school finally go after so many years of struggle. However, It hadn't been able to compete since the 60-70s era and if you don't change, one gets left behind.(for better or worse).

For those who love to hate Antioch College, let's just ignore the Nobel prize winners (2), the MacArthur genius award winners (7), the Fulbright winners (about 3 each year), the number of graduates who went on to receive PhDs (about 20th in the nation among baccalaureate schools small and large)and the fact that Antioch College was consistently at the top of the National Survey of Student Engagement rankings. Your stereotypes, like your animosity, are unfortunately based on shallow prejudices.

Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to re-establish a rich historic educational institution in our community!768

Have you followed alumni efforts over the last couple years, or are you falling back on kneejerk reactions to ideas you don't understand? I graduated from Antioch in the 90s, and my personal and professional success is due in great part to the Antioch experience. It saddens me to see our core values of freedom and independent thought so abusively denigrated here. Happy 4th of July! Freedom and independence are the right of every American. I enjoy the freedom to think for myself.

I find it more then sad to read most of the postings here. The real problem is looking at education as a business enterprise instead of valuing the role it plays in the culture. Look around you, what has the unrestricted free market produced and who amongst you have not felt the effects of the current economic meltdown? Your faith in the free market and global capitalism is somewhat stupefying to me when faced with the extensive effects of this system.Find your scapegoats elsewhere please.

Hey Kim. Antioch declared war on the ideas of capitalism, common sense and propriety and guess who won? You can only invite the Mumia's of this world to address the graduating class from Death Row so many times before parents (the real consumers of private colleges) decide to spend their $200,000 for four years elsewhere. Furthermore, you claim the Antioch of old to be more than just America-hating, yet have to censor your own description of our society. Sorry Kim, your contempt is showing....

Throw 50,000 in the trash or attend 4 years at Antioch College? Not much of a difference.

In case you're wondering... before you start mouthing off about something you're not properly informed on. Antioch was not just a USA hating college based on unicorns and rainbows. But untill you stand for something and not just give in to what ever our ******** society feeds you, you won't truly understand freedom or thinking for yourselves for once.

I wish nothing but rainbow wishes and unicorn dreams to the people who believe they can do business of usual at Antioch. There was a reason they went belly up; you have to market your business (and that's part of the problem) they didn't understnd that you have to market the college, not just set back and hope a good vibe will wash over your potential students and guide them to Antioch. Wake up and smell the economic realities of higher educaiton in America.
