SPRINGFIELD — Moyno Inc. and employee members of United Auto Workers local 902 have agreed to stop negotiations for some time after two weeks of unsuccessful talks.

“As of right now we have not reached an agreement; the company says that we need a break,” said Bill Creights, president of Local 902. “Employees will be working under the old contract until we get together again.”

Officials from Moyno Inc. — which manufactures cavity pumps and parts for the oil, gas, food and beverage industry — and parent company Robbins and Myers did not return calls.

The new contract between Moyno and Local 902 — which represents 128 of Moyno’s 240 employees and 150 retirees — was meant to be in effect starting Feb. 1. But negotiations extended through the week.

A contract was presented to union members at a meeting Sunday, but 112 out of 117 employees voted it down. Creights listed a number of points employees had issue with in the proposed contract. The company is attempting to:

• Freeze pensions.

• Cut wages up to $5 an hour.

• Eliminate cost of living allowances.

• Stop attendance bonuses.

• Remove supplemental benefits.

• Increase insurance premiums for employees and retirees.

There is no word on when negotiations will resume.
