SPRINGFIELD — The target group of people eligible to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine has been expanded to include all children over 6 months and some older adults, health officials announced Monday, Nov. 2.

A flu vaccination clinic scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 3, will begin at noon and continue while supplies last at Clark County Fairgrounds.

There will be no charge to receive the vaccine, but people must be eligible, officials warn.

For this clinic, the vaccine will be offered to the following people, based on Centers for Disease Control guidelines:

• pregnant women

• people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age

• healthcare and emergency medical services personnel

• persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old

• people ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems

To avoid wasting time at the clinic, fill out your registration form online. For faster service, visit the Clark County Combined Health District Web site at www.ccchd.com to complete and print your registration form before you come.

Be aware that state Route 41 will be closed at the railroad crossing just northwest of the Fairgrounds. You will need to access the fairgrounds entrance on state Route 41 by another route, such as taking Interstate 70 to state Route 41, or using Laybourne Road from Bird Road, or Titus Road from State Route 40.

Buses will run from the downtown hub to the fairgrounds, and back downtown free of charge.

The bus will leave downtown every half hour, beginning at 11 a.m. The last bus will leave the fairgrounds for downtown at 4 p.m.

Residents of western Clark County may access transportation assistance through Impact Bethel at www.impactbethel.org or call Carrie at (937) 307-5874.

More H1N1 flu vaccine is scheduled to arrive each week. As it arrives, the health district will offer additional clinics. Real time updates of vaccine supplies will be available during the clinic on Tuesday here or from Information and Referral at 323-1400 (211).

I wanted to personally give thanks for Tuesday Nov.3,2009 at the H1N1 clinic held at Clark County fairgrounds. The assistance we got from everyone was truly above and beyond our expectations. It was organized so well and when a deputy had us follow him to the front door in our vehicle and the nurse came out and gave the shot to our handicapped son in the van was truly amazing. We wanted to give a special thanks for all the professional courtesy shown.

That was the most organized clinic I have ever experienced. Thank you to all the dedicated nurses, paramedics and volunteers that are vaccinating Clark co. My husband and I were in and out in less than 30 minutes. Thank you again!

I think that if someone you live with has a chronic health disorder, should also be able to get the shot. I have sarciodosis and my husband isn't able to get the shot yet. So where does that leave me if he gets sick?

yes, I have heard the same. Pregnant women and children are at high risk for getting the h1n1. So they are priority on the list.
