SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man suffered minor injuries after a dog bit him in the 1100 block of Clifton Avenue Thursday afternoon, Sept. 2.

Frank Edgington, of Springfield, said he was walking his own dog by a home where the attacking animal, an Akita mix, was chained up.

When Edgington’s dog broke loose and ran into the yard, he said the Akita lunged at him.

“It came out of nowhere,” he said.

Edgington suffered a bite on his back and later went to a hospital for treatment.

The dog was removed and citations on the owners could come pending further investigation, said Clark County Humane Society Executive Director James Straley.
