David Shane Ward, 30, of 145 Montgomery Ave., was arrested on charges of abduction, felonious assault, domestic violence, aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct.

Police alleged he punched a woman he knew and slammed her face onto the sidewalk several times about 12:15 a.m. Friday, July 3, in the 1200 block of West High Street. Ward reportedly then dragged her into a truck so she couldn’t leave, police said, and threatened with a broom handle a man who had tried to stop the alleged assault.

The woman was treated and released at Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Street campus. Ward was treated at the hospital’s Fountain Boulevard campus and reportedly became belligerent there, police said.

Ward was taken to the Clark County Jail.
