Pennsylvania House holiday event is Saturday

Holiday at Pennsylvania House Museum will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Museum, 1311 W. Main St. There will be holiday music, colonial dress and free refreshments.

The cost is $5 for adults and $2 students. For more information call (937) 322-7668.

Firearm safety course offered

The Western Ohio Personal Safety/Firearm Training Group will offer a 12-hour course which meets the training requirement for an Ohio Concealed Handgun License.

The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 23, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Clark County Sheriff’s office, 120 N. Fountain Ave., Springfield. The course fee is $90 per student or $75 each for two or more registering together.

Early pre-registration is recommended. Class size is limited and spaces are filled first-come, first-served.

The same course will be offered again Feb. 20-21 with the same daily schedule and location. This training program is endorsed by Clark County Sheriff Gene A. Kelly.

Remembrance service is Dec. 10

Jackson, Lytle & Williams Funeral Home, 2425 N. Limestone St., will host its annual Holiday Service of Remembrance and first annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10.

Pastor Walter Mock of United Methodist Church and Pastor Craig Grammer of First Christian Church will give a spirit-filled service of words of encouragement and hope. The program is designed to give everyone in the community the opportunity to remember loved ones no longer with us.

A mother and daughter ensemble from First Christian Church will perform uplifting music, the memorial Christmas tree will be lit and light refreshments will be served.

Jackson, Lytle, & Williams Funeral Home will be providing angel ornaments at no charge, bearing the name of loved ones passed to be displayed on the lighted tree and families will be to able to take their ornamental keepsake home with them.

To reserve your angel with the name of your loved one, please RSVP by phone at (937) 399-2811 or e-mail us at frankie.bennett@jacksonlytle.com by Dec. 5, and provide the name of your loved one you are remembering as well as your name and phone number.

Urbana Christmas on Campus is set

Several Christmas activities are planned at Urbana University from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.

The events include horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides from 5 to 7 p.m., ice skating from 5 to 8 p.m., musical entertainment from 5:30 to 8 p.m., a Santa’s workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. and Scenes from Christmas Time at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

There will also be refreshments, and raffle tickets may be purchased for a decorated Christmas tree. The activities will be in or near the student center.
