Rotary trying to help Lincoln Elementary
The Springfield Rotary Club is seeking public support in its efforts to win up to $5,000 that would be used to help students at Lincoln Elementary School through a program called “Reading and Rotary.”
Anyone can vote for Springfield’s “Reading and Rotary” video in the district “Help us Do More” Rotary video contest at http://www.facebook.com/HelpUsDoMoreVideoContest.
Facebook users should login or create an account, then “Like” the page, then vote.
The “Reading and Rotary” program will produce and provide DVDs of Rotarians reading 12 selected books of the month, which the students will take home and listen to while they and their parents follow along in the book.
The video chronicles the students’ involvement in researching, producing and editing the video, while learning about Rotary and the importance of reading.
If successful, the Rotary would spend the prize money to offset some of the expenses of the project, including video equipment, contracting with Project Jericho for videotaping, DVD duplication and packaging and purchasing the books and bookbags.
