New HEAP income guidelines set

Income guidelines in the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) have been increased to allow for more aid for residents.

The base 12-month income level is $21,780 or less for a household of one person. Add $7,640 for each person to find out eligibility for a household of more than one person.

The regular HEAP program offers a one-time payment to a heating vendor to assist with home heating.

Assistance through the emergency HEAP program requires the household to have a shut-off notice or be shut off from service. Eligible households will receive a one-time payment of $175 that guarantees heating service for 30 days.

Both programs run through March 31.
