PASSPORT rated superior by clients
Ohio’s Area Agencies on Aging provide in-home care as an alternative to nursing home care for adults through the PASSPORT program. Seniors receiving care from the program rated it with a 99 percent satisfaction rate in a 2011 survey done by the Ohio Department of Aging, according to a news release.
The Area Agency on Aging, PSA 2 is an independent, private, nonprofit corporation that plans and funds services for more than 240,000 older persons in Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties.

Clothing/coat drive a success
Jackson, Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home collected 31 bags of children’s clothing from the community in its third annual Children’s Emergency Clothes Closet Drive to benefit Lagonda Elementary School.

Mayor to serve on education board
New Carlisle Mayor Richard Zsambok has been appointed as a member of the Clark County Educational Services Center Board of Education.
Zsambok was appointed to the board Jan. 17 to fill a vacancy left when Melvin Farrell decided not to run for re-election and no one else sought the seat. Zsambok has been a New Carlisle City Council member since 2003, and also serves on the county transportation coordinating committee, the New Carlisle Public Library board and the New Carlisle Rotary Club board.

A Winter Tree Identification Walk will be held at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Cliff Park.
Learn how to identify trees in the winter by their bark and twigs during a one-hour naturalist-led walk. Participants should meet at the Springfield Art Museum parking area. The program is free and registration is not required.

Junior Achievement of the Mad River Region will host its bowl-a-thon Feb. 25 at Victory Lanes, 1906 Commerce Road.
Teams of five work to collect pledges and then spend the day bowling. All proceeds benefit Junior Achievement.
