Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati and Kings Island are once again teaming up to encourage blood donations and help prevent summer blood shortages.  All donors will receive a free one-day ticket to Kings Island when they donate blood between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Hoxworth Mason, 9554 S. Mason-Montgomery Road.

Hoxworth needs at least 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors each day to keep up with the demands of regional hospitals and their patients.

To donate blood, an individual must be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed parental consent) and in good health. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and bring identification to donate. It is recommended that donors eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours before donating.

To locate a community blood drive or if you are a registered donor and want to schedule online, please visit www.hoxworth.org and click “Donate Now”.

Hoxworth gives priority to donors who have scheduled an appointment. Please call (513) 451-0910 to schedule an appointment at a neighborhood donor center. Walk-in donors are welcome and will be seen as soon as possible.

Those wishing to donate at other locations besides Mason may do so July 1, 2 or 3 at the following neighborhood donor centers:

Yes, of course, let me drive right down there to donate. Perhaps if they offered locations closer to the places they advertised, they'd get more donations. I'd love to do it, but I can't really drop everything to drive to Cinci.
