SPRINGFIELD — Santa will have to slide down the chimney to get in. Those who go on the WASSO 2009 Tour of Holiday Homes will be able to enter the front doors of half a dozen places.

True, the admission price is $20 at the door — $15 in advance. But it will go to support the sounds of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.

Five of the six homes can be visited from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. The sixth, the Murray House, will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. only.

Here’s a peek inside:

• The Murrays, 3774 Urbana Road: Marcus and Susan Murray will have 17 rooms of their expansive bed and breakfast decorated for the tour. The former Shouvlin Estate’s traditional style and Tuscan flair will be trimmed with holiday greenery from Polly Agle Florists.

• The Hendersons, 3614 Heatherwood Ave.: Built in 1999, the 3,200-square-foot brick home is perfect for Mautz and Barbara Henderson’s holiday entertaining. Its interior will be trimmed by Schneider’s Florists.

• The Brugger House, 515 Dorchester Drive: Look for the tree with more than 260 angels and special touches from Bonnie’s Nursery and Garden Center.

• The Godins, 229 Bellaire Ave.: This 1925 story-and-a-half cosy cottage-style home will be decorated in a traditional country manner with a smattering of antiques and family heirlooms.

• Woman’s Town Club, 805 E. High St.: Built in 1852 and purchased in 1922 for use as the Woman’s Town Club, the space that usually hosts luncheons, bridge, euchre and Mah Jongg will be a showcase of holiday tables presented by WASSO women. Design themes range from the elegant to the delightfully whimsy and are replete with china, glassware, flatware, linens, centerpieces and accessories.

• The Rogers House, 1631 Lagonda Ave.: Rich Rogers always enjoys entertaining in this 1881 home that his been his family’s since 1947. He has remodeled the inside and will have the spaces filled with display of Christmas past, including family treasures.
