MAD RIVER TWP., Champaign County — A dispute on the roadways ended late Monday, Aug. 17, after one motorist crashed into a house, according to Champaign County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Travis Pearson, 22, of Urbana, was cited for failure to control after crashing into a home in the 5800 block of Storms Creek Road, said Chief Deputy Matt Melvin.

Pearson reportedly had an argument earlier in the evening with a man he knew, and the disagreement continued on the road, Melvin said.

“Apparently, they knew each other and had an ongoing dispute,” said Melvin.

The roadway confrontation began when Pearson allegedly used his pickup truck to block the other man’s vehicle on Ohio 55 near Rhodes Road, Melvin said.

The other man fled and Pearson allegedly pursued him toward Terre Haute.

A deputy spotted Pearson’s vehicle on Storms Creek Road and attempted a traffic stop, Melvin said.

Pearson allegedly fled the deputy and crashed into the home, he said.

A passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Criminal charges could be filed pending further investigation, Melvin said.
