The Tecumseh Council, Boy Scouts of America Food Drive collected 68,986 pounds of food March 19-21, exceeding last year’s total of 64,445 pounds of food collected, BSA Staff Advisor David Mauch announced Saturday.

Scouts went door-to-door throughout the region during the past two weekends to solicit contributions. The effort collects food for people in need in Clark, Greene, Champaign, Logan and Clinton Counties.

Food pantries supported by Scouting include, The Second Harvest Food Bank, The Interfaith Hospitality Network, Honey Creek Presbyterian Church, Faith in Christ Lutheran Church and Enon Relief in Clark County.

In Champaign County, the Scouts donated their food to The Caring Kitchen, St. Paris United Methodist Church and The Free Will Baptist Church.

In Clinton County, the donated items were taken to My Father’s Kitchen.

Logan County Scouts donated their items to the Our Daily Bread pantry.

Greene County items were taken to Beavercreek FISH, Xenia FISH, Fairborn FISH, the Jamestown Food Pantry, and the Bellbrook/Sugarcreek Food Pantry.

“I am very proud of our Scouts, Leaders and everyone who put a bag of food out,” said Jim Nolan, Tecumseh Council Scout executive.
