The Clark County Public Library will close for extended furloughs during the upcoming holiday seasons.

The closings are a result of the state cuts to library funding, library officials said.

Upcoming schedule changes are:

- Branches and the main library will close 5 p.m., Nov. 25 and not reopen until Monday, Nov. 30. The main library opens at 9 a.m. and branches open at 10 a.m.

- The libraries will also close 8 p.m. Dec. 23 and not reopen until Monday, Jan. 4.

Library employees will not be paid during these closures.

During these closures, book/AV drops will not be open for use. Library fines will not be charged and online reserves will not be available.

You call that the high road? That's funny, but really you sound bitter, defensive, and accusatory, and downright mean.
Student, good for you for going back to school, I really can't figure out why someone would have something against someone else getting an education, but people will complain and attack you for anything these days I guess! Good luck with getting your degree.

I tried to be nice and explain to you Student that I UNDERSTOOD, now this jerk doesn't really care about your failed marraige nor even about your unemployment. Sucks to be you since I'm such a jerk. I care about the liabrary staff loosing their hours of pay and the people who actually use the resources @ the liabrary. So, I guess STUDENT, you should GET BACK TO STUDYING so you CAN get that GREAT job. See what being a hater gets ya? Sad. Again, I will take the high road, HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY :)

Sick of it, I'm not a single parent, never was a single parent. Divorced, yes after 27 years of a bad marriage. And as far as your tax dollars, I've paid my fair share of taxes since I was 16, so I'm using my own tax dollars as well. Once I graduate and am able to contribute again, I'll be paying higher taxes because of higher income. I'll gladly pay those higher taxes if they go towards education for all, police, fire, health issues and yes even jerks like you that work in the system.

Ask a library worker if staff and salaries have been cut. The library has lost many workers that have not been replaced, and all staff have taken substantial cuts in their hours, all the way up to the director of the library. Non-essential services like cleaning crews have been cut. What do you think it means when the library is closed? It's not like the workers are being paid during this time!

I love it when people stand on the outside and make judgments about things they know nothing about.
