Cedarville launching new design department

CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University will launch a new department of art and design this fall, officials announced Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The new department will staff six full-time professors and offer two degree programs — graphic design and studio art, along with three art minors.

Cedarville has partnered with the International Center for Creativity of the J.D. Orr Group in Columbus to form a new curriculum that will allow students to study on campus for their first two years before applying for an off-campus program where they will continue studio classes while gaining hands-on experience with leading design firms in central Ohio.

The university introduced an art program in 2003.

It would be wonderful if the university can do more with less. Too bad the university did not offer the laid off employees that same opportunity. Instead they were told they were being fired and to leave University grounds immediately. They could have been retrained or moved into new positions or actually retrained. That is the purpose of a university...right. Seems to me that Cedarville has lost its vision. I would like "The Fact is" to give his name and, the real cost of the new project.

No new professors were hired in launching the program. They are using existing faculty.

well, it's official: Cedarville University has turned their priorities upside down. After "releasing" 17 employees, several with more than 15 years with the university, it is clear that money just may be their new god, or maybe it always was, but they just a really good person in their marketing department; they probably still have a job! Boo on Cedarville!
Ashamed to be an alum.
boo to the 'ville!

Cedarville has lost my respect. Just 2 weeks ago they fire 17 full time employees due to "financial issues" and this week they hire 6 professors??

Cedarville University is a joke.
