SPRINGFIELD — Police are searching for three men after a home invasion in which the suspects struck a resident and took things from his refrigerator.
A 24-year-old man sustained a minor head injury after three men broke into his home on the 200 block of North Florence Street and hit him with a rifle, according to a police report.
The suspects allegedly entered through an unlocked screen door, ordered the residents to the floor, ransacked the house and took items from the refrigerator, according to the report.
Another resident, a 27-year-old female, was on the phone when the incident occurred, and the person she was speaking to overheard the commotion and called police.
“The aspects of this are still under investigation,” said Lt. Noel Lopez, Springfield Police Division.
The men never demanded money and appeared to be searching for something in the home, according to the report.
The suspects fled before police arrived and no one else was injured, said Lopez.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Springfield Police Division at (937) 324-7716.
