Board of Elections phone numbers left out of Yellow Pages

SPRINGFIELD — A glitch in communication somewhere between the county and two phone companies has resulted in the Clark County Board of Elections’ telephone number being left out of the AT&T Springfield/New Carlisle/Urbana & Vicinity Yellow Pages.

For the second year in a row.

The phone book also features some old numbers for some county offices, but those numbers will still connect to the listed office, said Kim Deniston, county information systems director.

Deniston said the phone book issues began when several county offices were moved to Springview Government Center, 3130 E. Main St., in 2007.

For those numbers, which now begin with a 521 prefix, Cincinnati Bell is the new carrier.

That means that Cincinnati Bell must communicate with AT&T about what numbers the county wants printed, Deniston explained.

“We don’t know where the ball got dropped with Springview,” he said. “But all of the downtown numbers are fine.”

Chris Bauer, spokesperson for AT&T, said that the company that provides services to those numbers, Cincinnati Bell, is responsible for providing the listings to AT&T.

Lisa McLaughlin, a Cincinnati Bell spokesperson, said the company is following up and looking into the situation.

But the county is working with Cincinnati Bell to make sure all information is being provided to AT&T, she added.

“And people can always call 411 and get the correct numbers,” Deniston said.

I had to look up the address and telephone number of the Board of Elections online. I was unable to find it in the telephone directory.
