This weekend marks the last chance for candidates and local ballot issue supporters to garner votes before Election Day.
Voters will decide Tuesday, Nov. 3, on a variety of ballot issues and local elected offices.
Northeastern and Northwestern local schools have the only new tax issues on the ballot, but a variety of renewal issues will be before voters, including a renewal levy for mental health services.
Northeastern levy supporters made a final push Friday, Oct. 30, passing out campaign literature to parents leaving Halloween classroom parties.
Candidates for one of the county’s hottest races, the Springfield city commission, were making a final campaign push Saturday, Oct. 31. Challenger Rob Baker’s campaign was planning a literature drop, he said.
Incumbent Karen Duncan has campaigning down to a science, evaluating voter turnout and her performance in precincts in 2005 to decide where to make her last efforts.
“On Tuesday, I want to feel like I’ve done everything I could do,” she said.
They are joined on the ballot by incumbent Dan Martin and challenger Joyce Chilton.
The polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
