Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport will receive a grant of more than $1 million from the Federal Aviation Administration to acquire land for runway approaches.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced the funding in a news release Monday, March 15.
“These funds will help promote economic development by allowing for critical airport infrastructure upgrades,” Brown said in the news release.
“They will help improve the safety, capacity and life span of Ohio’s airports,” he said.
Clark County to divvy up food, shelter grant
A grant of more than $105,000 from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program will be distributed to organizations that provide emergency shelter and food.
The Clark County Emergency Food and Shelter Board will determine how the funds are awarded. The board’s next meeting is 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the United Way office, 120 S. Center St.
The guidelines specify that the grants may be awarded to government or private groups that:
• Carry nonprofit status.
• Have an accounting system and checking account.
• Provide services and use other resources in the community.
• Perform an annual audit.
• Do not discriminate.
• Show the ability to deliver emergency food or shelter.
• Private groups must have a volunteer board.
Applications are due by 5 p.m., March 24.
