Springfield man arrested on felonious assault charge

A Springfield man was arrested Thursday night on a felonious assault charge after police said he shot out a vehicle’s window.

James White, 21, remains in jail today on a 25,000 bond.

According to court records, James White, 21, flagged down a vehicle in the area of Rice Street and Tibbetts Avenue on March 23. The victim stated that he told White to put down a large gun he was holding, then “punched the gas” and sped off.

The victim said as he was speeding away from the suspect, a bullet went through the back window, shattering it. The bullet also struck the inside of the front windshield and became embedded in the dash, according to court records.

The victim stated he knew White and had problems with him in the past.
