SPRINGFIELD — Moyno Inc. and members of United Auto Workers 902 reached a tentative contract agreement and avoided an employee strike.
Local 902 — which represents 128 of 240 Moyno employees and 150 retirees — will meet for a ratification vote at 1 p.m. Sunday at the UAW Local 402 office at 6125 Urbana Road.
Moyno’s employees help manufacture cavity pumps and parts for the oil and gas industry, food and beverage industries, and more.
Some workers contacted the Springfield News-Sun to say Moyno asked for pay cuts and a freeze in retirement funding. The workers said a strike was possible if an agreement wasn’t reached.
The contract expired as of Wednesday but was extended as negotiators from both sides continued to meet.
The union’s president, William Crites, was unavailable for comment, but in an earlier interview said Moyno asked for concessions from workers.
“And this is from a company that is making profits,” Crites said. “We are working with them on that. We are working toward an agreement.”
Calls to Moyno, 1895 W. Jefferson St., and to parent company Robbins and Myers were not returned.
