The second phase of the Prime Ohio Corporate Park, being developed south of Interstate 70 and Ohio 41, is going to receive a $150,000 Job Ready Site grant from the state of Ohio, the governor’s office announced Friday, July 30.
The money will be used to extend road access and improve natural gas line capacity to the site.
Prime Ohio II is a 250-acre development by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Community Improvement Corporation.
The Chamber has received $1.5 million in federal grants, $600,000 state grants for roads, and is waiting for word on a $1 million federal grant request to complete the financing for the project. If that is received work development of the site will begin in the spring, said Mike McDorman, president of the Springfield Chamber.
“You need to have the infrastructure in place before they will come,” McDorman said. “Once that happens you will start to see the park populate.”
