Lone Star Steakhouse, at 1661 W. First St., will close its doors at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 24.
Slow sales have made the location unprofitable for the company, according to General Manager Christina Sommerville.
All Springfield employees were offered positions at other Lone Star locations in Columbus and Dayton, with more than half accepting those jobs.
“We want to do whatever we can to help our employees, especially in this tough economy,” Sommerville said.
The restaurant has been open for 16 1/2 years, making it one of the first restaurants in that stretch of Bechtle Avenue, serving the community long before the newer choices along the recently developed portion of North Bechtle, she said.
