Wittenberg starters: Cole Bond, 6-6, Jr., F, 1.3; Steven Newell, 6-0, Jr., G, 9.0; Zack Leahy, 6-0, Jr., G, 12.0; Sam Collins, 6-4, So., W, 14.0; Scott Masin, 6-5, Jr., P, 14.0.

About Wittenberg: The Tigers lead the NCAC in field-goal percentage (50) and field-goal percentage defense (36). … Collins and Masin are tied for 11th in the NCAC in scoring. … Alex Fultz (5.8), Ben Syroka (4.0), Cam Walton (3.3) and John Albertson (3.0) are the team’s top scorers off the bench. … Wittenberg’s coaching staff has a new look this year. Assistants Al Cridge and Randy Lincicome didn’t return. They had both been with the program since 2001. Matt Croci, an All-American at Wittenberg in 1994 who was the head coach at Kenyon from 2003-10, joined the staff. Travis Schwab is in his sixth season as an assistant. Chris Endres is back for his fourth season, and 1981 Wittenberg grad Alan Watson returns for a second season.

About Wooster: The Scots have beaten Carnegie Mellon, Baldwin Wallace, Oberlin and Ohio Northern. Their only loss is to No. 20 Adrian, 57-56. … Center Jake Mays started the first four games. He averages 10.8 points. Doug Thorpe averages 9 points off the bench. … Wittenberg grad Steve Moore, 60, is in his 26th season at Wooster. He’s 599-135 at Wooster. His overall career record is 686-200 (.774). That’s the 14th-best winning percentage in college basketball history, including all divisions.

Coach Bill Brown on Wooster: “They beat Ohio Northern (Wednesday) at Ohio Northern, and Ohio Northern had been off to a really good start. My hat’s off to them. I thought that could have been a dangerous game for them. They have really good players, and they’re really well coached.”
