Springfield High School inducted four new members into its Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

The Hall of Fame has three sections: the first for those athletes who attended Springfield High School before 1960 and those that attend the new high school, the second for those who attended South and the third for those that attended North.

The new inductees are:

• Anthony Harris (North class of 1986): Harris was a basketball star who was named to the All-Western Ohio League team in 1985 and 1986. Among his other honors, he was an All-State honorable mention in 1986 and a District 9 All-Star. He also played in the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game as a senior.

Harris was a four-year starter at Urbana University and is the program’s fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,941 points. He graduated from Urbana in 1990 and is now the manager of Trophy Sports Center.

• Bob Newbold (Springfield 1938): He lettered in track for four years at Springfield and was named the school’s most outstanding athlete in 1938. He then ran track at Ohio State and lettered from 1939-42.

Newbold served with the Navy in World War II in the Pacific in Guam and retired from Dayton Newspapers, where he was personnel director and head of human resources, in 1986.

• Mike Willets: A 1971 graduate of Monroe High School in Michigan, Willets was the longtime head athletic trainer at South and has held the same position at Springfield since the new high school opened in 2008. He also has worked at both schools as a science teacher.

Willets is a member of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Springfield/Clark County Outstanding Educator Award and the Ohio High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship Award.

• Richard Duncan (Springfield 1958): Duncan was an All-Ohio track performer in 1958 and was most valuable player of the football team in 1958. He also played basketball. He and his wife Dorothy have seven daughters.
