Division I
1. Wayne (4-1): Senior QB Javon Harrison was 11 of 16 for 179 yards and two TDs in a 41-13 blitz of Vandalia Butler last week, the Warriors’ third straight win; host Springfield as GWOC Central play kicks in.
2. Springboro (5-0): Panthers’ defense, led by linebackers Jordan Nicholl and Joe Kylin, has posted two straight shutouts, including a 55-0 rout of visiting Piqua last week; open GWOC South play at West Carrollton.
3. Lakota West (5-0): Firebirds also have been defensive minded, allowing just 28 total points over the last four games after surrendering 34 in a season-opening win at La Salle; host Princeton.
4. Centerville (3-2): Streaking Elks take a three-game win streak into the “Backyard Brawl” at Fairmont in another GWOC Central opener; Firebirds are on a three-game losing streak.
5. Lebanon (4-1): QB Luke Morgan has passed for 1,392 yards, 16 TDs and just three INTs; at Xenia in a GWOC South opener.
Others: Beavercreek, Fairborn, Fairfield, Fairmont, Hamilton, Lakota East, Mason, Miamisburg, Middletown, Northmont, Springfield, Troy, Xenia.
Division II
1. Trotwood-Madison (3-2): Rams’ defense has allowed just six total points in their three wins, but were surprisingly pushed at West Carrollton last week before posting a 20-0 win; at Piqua in a GWOC North opener.
2. Tippecanoe (5-0): Red Devils also have benefitted from a stout defense, posting two shutouts and outscoring opponents by a combined 168-20; host Bellefontaine in a CBC Kenton opener.
3. Franklin (4-1): Wildcats have won two straight by limiting Monroe and Bellbrook to six points each and swap places with Edgewood; at Madison.
4. Edgewood (4-1): Cougars had impressive season unravel at Ross last week, falling 41-12; host Little Miami.
5. Sidney (3-2): It’s official, the Yellow Jackets are back. Rebounded from consecutive setbacks to West Carrollton and Springboro by routing Belmont 49-14 and knocking Piqua out of the rankings; at Troy in a GWOC North opener.
Others: Bellbrook, Greenville, Kings, Little Miami, Piqua, Ross, Stebbins, Talawanda, Tecumseh, Vandalia Butler, West Carrollton.
Division III
1. Thurgood Marshall (4-1): Cougars retain the top spot despite falling 17-13 at Winton Woods (4-1); Denzel Norvell has 1,001 rushing yards (8.3) and 16 TDs; vs. Meadowdale at Welcome Stadium.
2. Alter (4-0-1): Knights continue to score in bunches following a 56-6 raid at Purcell Marian. However, its four wins are against opponents with a combined 3-18 record; host Badin at Centerville.
3. Urbana (4-1): Hillclimbers have won three straight since falling to Walnut Ridge and overtake Kenton Ridge; at Greenon in opening CBC Mad River play.
4. Springfield Shawnee (3-2): Braves muscle their way back into the rankings following impressive blowouts of Northwestern (58-0) and Greenon; at Kenton Ridge in a key CNC Kenton Trail contest.
5. Kenton Ridge (4-1): Cougars have won two close games, but not at Northwestern, falling 31-27 last week and tumble from No. 3; host Spg. Shawnee.
Others: Bellefontaine, Carroll, Dunbar, Eaton, Graham, Meadowdale, Monroe, Oakwood.
Division IV
1. Chaminade Julienne (4-1): Despite the midseason success, the Eagles are no better than No. 8 in the Region 16 computer poll. That’s because they haven’t beaten a winning team and their foes are a combined 4-16; that changes against visiting McNicholas (4-1).
2. Milton-Union (4-1): It’s too early to crown a SWBL Buckeye champ, but the Bulldogs’ showdown at Carlisle will go a long way in determining a title.
3. Carlisle (4-1): Indians also have leaned on their defense in taking out Waynesville and Northridge and mounting a four-game win streak; host Milton-Union.
4. Fenwick (3-2): Falcons senior Frank Catrine continues to provide a quick-strike element. Fenwick must recover after dropping a heartbreaking 45-44 decision to McNicholas; host Purcell Marian.
5. Brookville (4-1): Blue Devils have a three-game win streak after handing Dixie its first loss, 26-16; host Oakwood.
Others: Badin, Greeneview, Greenon, Madison, Northeastern, Northridge, Northwestern, Ponitz Tech, Preble Shawnee, Valley View.
Division V
1. Coldwater (5-0): Cavaliers, also No. 1 in the state, are the only MAC team to remain unbeaten; host St. Henry (4-1) in yet another key MAC matchup.
2. Covington (5-0): Buccaneers extended their drive to another CCC championship by walloping TC North, 48-14; host Miami East (4-1), which is the 4-0 CCC co-leader.
3. Versailles (3-2): The Tigers celebrated a return of state top-ranked Marion Local to the schedule by handing the Flyer their first loss, 24-14. The teams had played 56 games over consecutive seasons, but didn’t play the last two years; at Parkway.
4. West Liberty-Salem (5-0): The Tigers must avoid an upset to visiting Northeastern before hosting Greeneview next week in what could decide the OHC title.
5. Dayton Christian (5-0): High-scoring Warriors have turned up the defensve heat, allowing just six points in the last three wins; at Jefferson (3-2) in what should be a great matchup.
Others: Anna, Bethel, Dixie, Miami East, National Trail, Twin Valley South.
Division VI
1. Marion Local (4-1): It’s not often that a No. 1 team retains its ranking following a loss, but like Thurgood Marshall, that’s what the Flyers have done after falling to Versailles; host Delphos St. John’s.
2. St. Henry (4-1): The Redskins vaulted to the top of the Region 24 computer rankings following Local’s loss and a 49-7 defeat of New Bremen; at Coldwater in a crucial MAC matchup.
3. Minster (3-2): Wildcats have dropped two straight games and retain their position. Huh? Those setbacks were to MAC rivals St. Henry (35-21) and Coldwater (34-6); at Anna.
4. Tri-County North (3-2): Panthers gave Covington their best shot, falling 48-14 to snap a three-game win streak; at Bradford (4-1).
5. Bradford (4-1): Railroaders thumped Ansonia for the second time in five weeks and bump Fort Loramie out of the rankings; host TC North.
Others: Ansonia, Arcanum, Cedarville, Central Catholic, Cin. Christian, Fort Loramie, Fort Recovery, Jefferson, Lehman Catholic, Mississinawa Valley, New Bremen, New Miami, Southeastern.
