Beavercreek hadn’t participated in the Good Samaritan Hospital Flyin’ to the Hoop since 2004 when Jerome Tillman was its main draw. And the Beavers wasted no time on Monday showing they belonged.

Mounting a 17-0 advantage that stunned even a pro-Creek crowd, the Beavers hung a 65-53 loss on Our Savior New American (N.Y.) to highlight the final day of the four-day, 20-game boys high school basketball invitational at Fairmont’s Trent Arena.

“I told my coaches, ‘How long can we ride this?’ ” Beavers coach John Ahrns said. “We knew they’d come back and we knew we had to sub eventually.”

Airius Moore hit 8-of-11 shots for 20 points to lead the Beavers. Jalen Camper added 18 points and nine rebounds and Kyle Rader 17 points and six rebounds.

Beavercreek (13-3) has beaten Dunbar, Northmont and Our Savior in succession.

Fort Recovery 61, Greeneview 46: Junior Elijah Kahlig hit three straight treys and unloaded a career-high 36 points to lead the Indians in a great matchup of area small-school powers. Recovery, of the Midwest Athletic Conference, improves to 12-2 overall and further legitimized itself as a deep D-IV postseason contender. Wade Gelhaus added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Senior Evan Bradds paced the Rams (11-3) with 22 points, hitting 3-of-5 treys. He also had seven rebounds, three steals and a couple blocks. Senior Tyler Bruntz added 13 points for the Rams, who had a three-game win streak snapped.

Recovery (12-2) has won five straight games. It was a tough matchup for the Rams, who were decisively outshot and outrebounded.

“That was probably the worst game that we’ve played all year,” Rams coach Bill Green conceded. “It’s partially because of them; their defense bothered us. We just couldn’t get anything rolling.”

Buford (Ga.) 67, Fairmont 56: The host Firebirds put up a game effort in Monday’s opener before wilting in the fourth quarter. Kei’Vante Tanner, a promising 6-foot-3 sophomore, hit 6-of-9 shots and 6-of-8 free throws to lead Fairmont with 18 points and eight rebounds. Aaron Abbott added 11 points for the Firebirds (4-12), who have dropped 10-of-11 games.

Buford’s A.J. Davis and Kyle Doyle each tallied 23 points for the Wolves.

Prime Prep (Texas) 77, Wayne 61

Prime Prep, ranked No. 4 in the nation by ESPN, knocked on Wayne in the finale of the Flyin’ to the Hoop event.

Juan Ford scored 16 points and D’Mitrick Trice added 15 for the Warriors (14-3).

Jordan Mickey, an LSU recruit, led Prime Prep with 27 points.

Prime Prep, co-founded by NFL Hall of famer Deion Sanders, improved to 19-0.

Wheeler (Ga.) 58, Centerville 36: The Elks hung tough until the Wildcats pulled away with a second-half blitz. Austin Recker led Centerville with 14 points and hit a trio of treys. Sub Jake Replogle added 10 points and six rebounds for Centerville (8-8).

Wheeler (10-3) has won five Georgia state titles, all under coach Doug Lipscomb. He was named the national coach of the year last season by the National High School Coaches Association.

Alter 75, Cle. Central Catholic 67: Jaaron Simmons scored 23 points and paced an up-tempo attack that wore the Ironmen down in the second half. Dean Lemon added 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Michael Schweiterman 14 for the Knights (12-1).

CCC’s Chelvonte Montgomery matched Simmons’ 23 points. The Ironmen, down by as many as 21 points, fell to 8-4.

LATE SUNDAY

Prime Prep (Texas) 82, Springboro 47: The Panthers were overwhelmed 27-8 the third quarter and were flattened in Saturday’s finale. Senior center Maverick Morgan (Illinois) held his own, hitting 10-of-20 shots and adding five free throws for a game-high 25 points.

Springboro (13-3) had a five-game win streak snapped.

Jordan Mickey, a 6-8 senior, led Prime Prep, ranked among the nation’s top 10 teams by Max Preps. The LSU signee tallied 14 points to go with 12 rebounds and two blocks.

LATE SATURDAY

La Lumiere (Ind.) 62, Trotwood-Madison 58: The Rams and Lakers put on a quality show in Saturday’s finale. Trotwood led by seven after three quarters, but La Lumiere went on a game-ending 17-6 run to pull away.

The Rams received superb efforts from their 1-2 scoring punch of Jamar Hammonds and Dezhontae Bennett. Hammonds hit three treys, 9-of-9 free throws, scored 30 points and had four blocks. Bennett was good for 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Trotwood (10-2) had its seven-game win streak snapped. Johnathon Wilkins had 19 rebounds for La Lumiere, another top-five Max Preps program located at LaPorte, Ind.
