Area Roundup: Wittenberg men’s golf placed 7th in Division III Tournament

Wittenberg University’s men’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Division III national championship at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., on Friday.

The Tigers shot a score of 303 in the final round to finish with a four-round score of 1,202. This was the third-best finish for the Tigers in the D-III tournament.

David Wetterich shot a 2-over 74 and finished 14th with a school-best score of 297. Alex Andrews placed 31st (301), Jack Uecker finished 52nd (307), Craig Osterbrock placed 68th (315) and Triad High graduate Jordan Millice finished 70th (316).

Millice was named to the Capital One Academic All-America College Division All-District IV first team with a GPA of 3.9 in business on Friday.

Host school Oglethorpe University won by 20 strokes over Transylvania College with a score of 1,171.

• The Cedarville University baseball team finished third in pool-play action with a 2-2 record and did not advance to the quarterfinals of the NCCAA Division I championship.

The Yellow Jackets (38-13) finished with a school-record 38 wins, and Ryan Ledbetter set a Cedarville single-season record with 61 RBIs.
