Area Headlines: Shawnee senior signs with Urbana

Shawnee High School senior Ashley Dalton, the 2011 News-Sun Clark County Softball Player of the Year, has signed a national letter of intent to play at NCAA Division II Urbana University.

She hit .612 in 2011. She carries a 3.9 GPA and plays to study for a career in medicine.

• Wittenberg University sophomore David Wetterich has earned second-team PING All-America honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America. Wetterich finished 14th at the Division III championships shooting a team-best round of 69 and four-round score of 297.

• Wittenberg sophomore Alie Marousek was named to the first team and sophomore Francine Murzynski made the second team of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region.
