Area Headlines: Millice, Wittenberg earns academic honors

Wittenberg University golfer and Triad High grad Jordan Millice earned second-team Capital One Academic All-America College Division honors for the combination of his athletic and academic accomplishments.

Millice had a 77.1 stroke average and had two top-15 finishes in 2012. Millice graduated last month with a degree in business, posting a 3.90 GPA.

The Tiger’s Athletic Department finished ranked 50th out of 440 Division III schools in academics for the 2011-2012 season in the final Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, presented by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

• Cedarville University sophomore outfielder Kelsey Wilson was named the 2012 National Christian College Athletic Association Softball National Player of the Year and heads up the NCCAA All-America First Team.

Freshman pitcher and Springfield High grad Cecelia DeBartolo was selected to the Second Team and Kenleigh Ludlow was named an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.

• West Liberty-Salem seniors Michael Mack and Michael Yoder have signed letters of intent to attend Heidelberg University this fall.

Mack will play football and run track. Yoder will also run track.
