Area Headlines: Clark State Fulk, Luke honored; Witt Men’s Golf 7th in D-III Tourney

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Eagles’ Fulk, Luke named All-OCAC

Clark State Community College Al Fulk was named manager of the year and Matt Luke was named player of the year as the All-2012 Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball team was released.

Urbana High grad Braydon Gomes, Kenton Ridge grad Wade Fulk, Trent Pugh and Corey Miller also made the first team. Jordan Sticklen, A.J. Johnson, and Northwestern high grad Andy Barger earned honorable mention honors.

• Ryan Ledbetter two-run double sparked a four-run seventh inning rally that came up one run short as Olivet Nazarene beat the Yellow Jackets 5-4 during the second day of the NCCAA National Championship at Prasco Park in Mason. Cedarville (38-13) lost 3-1 to Nyack earlier to finish pool play action with a 2-2 record.

COLLEGE GOLF

Tigers seventh at Division III championship

After being in 20th place after the first round, the Wittenberg men’s golf team is now tied for seventh place in the Division III Championship heading into the final round.

David Wetterich is tied for 23rd with a team-best score of 223. Wittenberg has a three-round score of 899. Host school Ogelthorpe remains in first place with a score of 867.

Criag Osterbrock and Jack Uecker were named to the PING D-III All-Great Lake Region team on Wednesday.
