Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto said Thursday he will seek advice from Reds general manager Walt Jocketty and manager Dusty Baker about whether to participate in the World Baseball Classic.
Votto was given a spot on Team Canada but isn’t sure if he will play after missing 48 games last season because of torn knee cartilage.
“It is difficult for me to commit because I’ve never been injured before,” Votto said. “I want to make sure I’m comfortable playing.”
Baker said he would advise Votto to play.
