Dragons waste solid pitching at Peoria

Peoria starter Starling Peralta tossed a two-hitter through seven innings and shortstop Javier Beaz hit a solo home run in the second as the host Chiefs defeated the Dayton Dragons 1-0 on Wednesday.

Dragons starter Radhames Quezada and relievers Wes Mugarian and Carlos Contreras combined to allow only four hits to Peoria. Unfortunately, Dayton’s offense managed only five singles and left three runners on base in scoring position.

Spencer Dickinson went 2-for-4 and Quezada (5-7) picked up the loss for the Dragons in their first game back after the Major League All-Star game break.
