Pregnant woman stabbed during video call

A Texas woman in her ninth month of pregnancy was brutally attacked in her home Wednesday while on a video call to her soldier husband deployed thousands of miles away.

Police say 31-year-old Rachel Poole was stabbed in the face and stomach while talking to her husband Justin on Apple’s iPhone video chat program FaceTime. Poole had spent about nine months stationed in southwest Asia. (Via KTSM)

Poole’s suspected attacker is 19-year-old Cory Moss, a soldier stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso. Moss allegedly intended to confront Poole about money he owed to her. (Via New York Daily NewsEl Paso Police Department)

Poole reportedly recognized her attacker and screamed Moss’s name over the phone to her husband, who heard to the whole incident.

According to court documents obtained by KFOX, Justin Poole contacted authorities at Fort Bliss, who detained Moss when he returned to base. Rachel managed to call 911 and is currently recovering at a local hospital.

Justin returned from his overseas deployment Friday to visit his wife. Rachel’s baby was delivered through caesarean section the same day.

The soldier posted photos of his new daughter Isabella to his Facebook page, saying she is beautiful but sick from the medication used to treat Rachel. He also posted, “My wife is my wife til I'm no longer breathing. No man can change that and though I was not here to protect her this time it will never happen again that’s my word.

Moss is being held in an El Paso county jail with a bond of $150,000.
