Police: Driver intentionally struck woman

Springfield police arrested a man on a charge of felonious assault after he allegedly used his car to purposely hit a woman.

At 7:09 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the Walmart parking lot on Bechtle Avenue where the victim stated the suspect, identified as Iiawon Unique Williams, “ran her over.” The victim stated she got out of the vehicle when she and Williams began arguing, and he began following her. She said she heard the car accelerate and as she started to turn her head, the vehicle hit her and knocked her to the pavement.

Two witnesses stated to police that the car intentionally hit the woman, according to court records.

The victim was examined and was going to have x-rays to determine the extent of injuries.

Williams was taken to Clark County Jail on a count of felonious assault.
