OHP: Alcohol a factor in Bethel Twp. crash

A 43-year-old New Lebanon man is suspected of drunken driving in a crash that left his vehicle in the trees far off the road.

Raymond Shade was taken to the SOIN Medical Center as a precaution from the scene of the crash, which happened at approximately 11 p.m. on Spangler Road, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol Springfield Post.

Shade was traveling north in a silver two-door sedan when he went off the right side of the roadway and careened about 80 yards before striking a tree, according to OHP.

Crews had to saw away trees in order to remove the vehicle.

The OHP trooper said the driver will be cited for operating a vehicle while impaired and failure to control.
