AKRON, Ohio — An Ohio man has been sentenced to 22 years to life for killing his mother and brother found buried behind their burned-out home near Akron.
Summit County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Teodosio (tee-oh-DOH'-zee-oh) sentenced 40-year-old Michael Knudson (kuh-NUHD'-suhn) on Friday. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, aggravated arson and evidence tampering.
His 64-year-old mother, Patricia Knudson, and 42-year-old brother, John Knudson, had been beaten, apparently with a hatchet-like weapon. Their bodies were found six days after fire destroyed their foreclosed Hudson home in April.
Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says Knudson snapped over the family's financial pressures.
