COLUMBUS, Ohio — Wintry weather has returned to Ohio, bringing snow to parts of the state after weeks of unseasonably warmer temperatures and drier conditions.

The National Weather Service said snowfall was expected in southwest and central Ohio on Wednesday, with up to an inch falling by afternoon along the Interstate 71 corridor. Meteorologists from Cincinnati and Dayton to Columbus were warning drivers they'd see slick roads thanks to freezing rain or snow during morning commutes.

The city of Columbus said dozens of trucks were salting roads in the region early Wednesday morning.

Parts of northeastern Ohio were expected to get a lighter snowfall.
