AKRON, Ohio. — Zeke Marshall scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds as Akron beat Bowling Green 79-68 on Wednesday night, marking the Zips' seventh straight season of 20 wins or more.
Nikola Cvetinovic, Alex Abreu, and Brian Walsh scored 12 apiece and Demetrius Treadwell 10 for Akron (20-8, 12-1 Mid-American Conference) which shot 56 percent (28 of 50) from the field.
After five lead changes in the first two minutes, the Zips took the lead for good behind a 3-pointer from Abreu. Akron led by as much as 10 in the first half and 12 midway through the second half.
Akron won the rebounding battle 35-25 and dished out 19 team assists.
Bowling Green (14-13, 7-6) was 6 of 8 from the free throw line but committed 16 fouls to send the Zips to the line 22 times. Akron converted 19 of those attempts.
A'uston Calhoun led Bowling Green with 18.
