VANDALIA —

A man driving a Honda Civic apparently experienced a medical emergency and went the wrong way down Interstate 75, striking multiple vehicles Thursday afternoon.

The driver had a diabetic issue and traveled the wrong way down the Northwoods Boulevard exit ramp onto I-75 for a quarter mile and a trooper with the Ohio Highway Patrol was able to stop the driver, according to patrol Sgt John Schesser. The accident was reported at about 4:20 p.m.

The vehicle then traveled north on I-75 south, colliding with two vehicles. The vehicles sustained minor damage. No one was injured in any of the crashes.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center.

“We are extremely fortunate no more serious injuries occurred,” said Schesser.
