Police say that Chad Foland abducted his own child during a Friday night domestic dispute.

SPRINGFIELD —

The trial started today for a man accused of abducting his own child during a domestic dispute in November.

The Ohio Highway Patrol assisted the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of Chad Foland, 31, who is charged with burglary, criminal damaging, aggravated menacing, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, child endangerment and possession of marijuana.

Foland allegedly forced his way into a home on Lawnview Avenue, threatened the occupants there and abducted his 10-year-old son, according to the report.

Foland also allegedly slashed one vehicle’s tire.

An OSP trooper located Foland’s 2002 Gold Pontiac near his home in the 2300 block of Irwin Avenue and subsequently arrested him there, according to the report.

Foland’s son was found safe.

Foland is out of jail after posting $1,100 bond.
