A woman was seriously injured Sunday in a head-on crash that temporarily shut down Ohio 41.

GERMAN TWP. —

A woman was seriously injured Sunday in a head-on crash that temporarily shut down Ohio 41.

Traffic was directed into the Upper Valley Mall’s parking lot as emergency crews were on scene at 12:30 p.m.

A 1998 Ford Explorer traveling east on Ohio 41 went left of center and struck a 1993 Lincoln, according to a release from the Ohio Highway Patrol Springfield Post.

The driver of the Lincoln suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by CareFlight from Springfield Regional Medical Center to Miami Valley Hospital.

The other driver was taken to the medical center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening.

CareFlight transported one female with serious injuries from the medical center to Miami Valley Hospital.

German Twp. poice and fire assisted on scene.

OSP continues to investigate what led the Ford Explorer to cross the center line.
