ENON, Clark County —

The exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to northbound Ohio 4 was closed for several hours Thursday morning following a crash involving a tanker truck that was carrying 54,000 pounds of milk.

Troopers said preliminary reports indicate the driver may have fallen asleep. The man reportedly struck a guardrail, over corrected and ended up flipping the vehicle, according to troopers.

The driver, who has not been identified, was picking up the milk from area farms in the hours before the crash and was on his way to a milk processing plant in Enon.

The tanker did not rupture in the crash, but some milk is leaking onto the roadway. HAZMAT crews were on the scene and worked to keep the milk out of storm drains.

Officials said the milk would be off-loaded into a second tanker.

The driver was not injured and will be cited for failure to control, troopers said.
