Worker’s arm crushed in industrial accident

SOUTH CHARLESTON —

A woman working for automotive supplier Yamada was admitted to a hospital after her arm was crushed in machinery Monday morning.

The woman, whose name and age were not released, had just started her shift when her arm became caught in the machinery at 7:30 a.m.

The Madison Twp. Fire Department responded and took the woman to Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia.

According to first responders with the department, the woman suffered a fracture to her hand and her forearm was crushed. She later was transported to Kettering Medical Center for surgery.

The company is investigating the incident to determine how the accident occurred despite machinery safeguards, said fire department officials. Company officials could not be reached Monday for comment.
